All FitQ users who are actively working out on our platform have probably noticed that their desktop is constantly tallying up points. As soon as you make a small movement on the platform, activity points start ticking in right away. Why are these points useful, and how are they calculated? Let’s go over the basics, but be warned: this is a blog post that we’ll likely need to update from time to time, since our platform is constantly evolving.
Why are points necessary?
To stay motivated to move, you sometimes need a little external motivation in addition to your internal drive. It’s a need that doesn’t come from within you, but that gets you moving. By using a points system, we can create various challenges and games on the platform and offer bonuses.
End-of-season raffle. For example, we currently have a monthly challenge for all users—earn a total of 5,000 points in a single month, and you’ll get one entry into our end-of-season raffle, which will take place in June. The grand prize is a €1,000 travel gift card from Estravel.
Challenges. We also have various exciting inter-team challenges planned, where the leaderboard determines the rankings—earn the most points, either individually or as a team, and you’ll be the winner of the challenge. Next up, starting February 12, is the Best Shape of Your Life Training Challenge.
Activity Leaderboard. Points allow us to generate a real-time leaderboard of active users. You can view the leaderboard by month, week, or day to see how your activity compares to that of other users.
Discounts in the online store. In the future, we’ll also be able to offer discounts in our online store, where you can purchase various sports equipment or necessary dietary supplements.
How are points calculated?
As mentioned, changes will be made here as new features are added. Currently, the formula for calculating points is as follows.
| Activity | Regular User | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Watching a workout video | 6 points/minute | 10 points/minute |
| Marking a task as completed in a challenge | 50 points | 100 points |
| Marking the day as completed in the program | 125 points | 250 points |
| AI Test Repetitions—Push-ups, Squats, Abdominal Exercises | 1 point per rep | 1 point per rep |
